The Creative Beast Returns

I've got colored pencils, and I'm not afraid to use them.

At the end of "Let Out the Creative Beast," I mention the idea of letting out other people's Beasts.

"The Gift of the Creative Beast" expands on that idea. It talks about remembering people who have let out Your Beast, and thanking them - and then turning around to do the same for someone else.

Practically every artist, actor, musician and designer I have ever worked with has believed that part of our job is to reach back and lift up young artists. Many of us can remember someone in our youth who saw us as we were, and who made us feel actually GOOD about being different, not like a mutant. Those people gave us The Gift of the Creative Beast.

Please enjoy, maybe this will help you remember someone who gave YOU the Gift!

Featured Posts and Great Mistakes

Next week I'm giving a talk on "Why Art Is Not Enrichment" (man I hate that term). More to come on that!

So in that spirit here's a Semi-Rant on how badly kids need Art.

Also, a New Free Jungle Coloring Page, which calls out (the call of the wild?) to be colored in every color of the rainbow and beyond

Also free and printable, a Story Sheet to inspire simple story lines - and pointers on how a book can take shape right before your very eyes

And finally, I encourage everyone to Make a Great Mistake - remember, the unexpected doesn't have to be bad or wrong, it might just be a window into a wonderful new world!! First seen on The Affluent Artist.
